Interview with Doreen

What is the difference between counselling and coaching?

Counselling deals with looking at past issues or hurtful events, and tries to resolve difficulties and improve the ability to handle life in emotionally healthy ways.

Coaching looks at the future and assists people to design a life that has purpose and meaning for you.

How are you different from other life coaches?

I work with individuals who are discontent and unfulilled, and want to make significant changes to improve their life, but who struggle with trying to figure out what to do next, AND would like a step by step plan that helps them be their best at what they are truly called to do.

What separates me from other coaches is that I work ONLY with people who are ready and motivated to implement action steps, and I ONLY specialize in person growth and success.

For this reason, my clients recieve personalized action steps, practical tools, and support, they need to succeed.  As a result, those who coach with me, get clear direction and personal fulfillment, in less time, than they would on their own.

Best of all, the coaching inspires continual growth, so most people who work with me achieve more than they imagined.

How did you come to be a pesonal development and success coach?

I have always enjoyed helping people grow and learn, and teaching them how to take strides to improve their life.  Their "ah ha" moments, feels like success to me.  Nothing brings me greater satisfaction than being part of the process of helping someone improve and change their life.

I used to do this as a Counsellor, and aimed at working toward my clients personal wholeness and well-being.  While I found that kind of work enjoyable, I also discovered that it was very fulfilling for me, to help someone create a life around their true purpose and passions.  It was their "aliveness" in discovering themselves and watching them flourish, that filled my heart.  I know without a doubt, that being a Life Coach is a true expression of who I am and what I am called to do.

I am a strong believer in being our best and and doing what we are truly called to do.  I would be honored to help you find out what that is for you!

Why does coaching work?

Coaches are there to support you, motivate you, keep you focused on your goals, and encourage you when you have setbacks.  The accountability keeps you on track and helps you move forward.

 Who are your clients exactly?

My clients tend to be people who want to "raise the bar" in their personal and professional life.  They are people who want to implement new or improved ways of doing things; make choices that align with their goals; adopt new daily habits; and overcome self-limiting mindsets and beliefs that hold them back.  My clients are ready to do what it takes to to be their best and strive for excellence.

My clients are:  professionals, counsellors, managers, employers, solo entrepreneurs, young adults (college age), and job/career transitions

What type of personality do you work best with?

I work with people who are ready to be challenged; stretched; motivated; open to new ideas; eager to learn and succeed; open to feedback; and willing to be committed to the coaching process.

How will I grow through the coaching process?

Through the process of coaching you will learn about yourself, your strengths, your values, areas for improvements, and the power of choices.  As you begin to see the benefits working in one area, it will motivate you to improve in others areas of your life as well.  This will start happening more naturally.  Coaching can be transformational in upgrading all areas of your life.  How much you grow will depend on you.

 What is the time commitment?

That depends on what you want to get out of the coaching, and what goals you want to achieve.  It may take a while to get the results you want, so coaching does take a bit of time.  Plus, I want to be there to support you and help you succeed, as you move forward toward your personal goals.  I offer three different coaching programs.  You have the option to choose which one is right for you.

What if we don't click together as coach and client?

The coaching relationship is built on good communication.  If something comes up that does not sit well with you, bring it up in the coaching call.

What can I expect in a coaching call?

You determine what the call will be about.  We focus on what matters to you.  As your coach, I will listen and ask questions.  I will encourage you, support you, and help you see blind spots in order to see new possibilites.  I will be honest with you and give you feedback.  Together we will set goal to move you forward.

Your job is to be committed to the coaching process; do the things you've agreed to do; make the necessary changes you need to; choose and set your goals; be honest with me; be willing to take risks; and work together to ensure the results you want.

How can I know the coaching program is worth the investment?

Coaching is an investment in your life.  When you commit to the process and actively work toward creating the life you want, I guarentee you will expereince significant improvements.  Nothing is cemented in stone though.  What I mean is, if you feel you are not seeing the results you want, and don't want to continue coaching, you are free to terminate at any time.
